Karen Lawrence

Karen started singing
professionally in her college years and has become well known in the
Capital District Region of New York State for cultivating one of the
most sought after dance bands for fine events.
The Karen Lawrence Band began twenty years ago as a quartet and has
evolved into a seven piece band featuring outstanding vocals, rhythm
section and horns. Karen has coordinated and performed at over 2,000
weddings and parties giving her invaluable experience with most every
type of event.
Karen's solo credits include many commercial jingles for TV and radio. Two of her jingles, Wit's End and DeLorenzo Law Firm, were voted, "best
of" in the Times Union 2002 selections. Her vocals are also heard on
many National Corporation motivational films, such as Pizza Hut, Pepsi
and Pratt-Whitney.
Karen is also a composer and co producer with her husband, Paul Othon. Over the last five years she has released two original CD's, "He'll see
you through" and "Going to Zion" and is in the process of recording a
third in her private studio. The song cut, "I still believe in miracles"
received substantial New York City airplay.

Robert Lindquist

Robert Lindquist has been
playing piano since the first grade. He is trained classically and
has been playing jazz professionally in the capital region since he was 16. He received his Associates in Music performance at Schenectady County
Community College and continued at SUNY Potsdam's CRANE school of music
where he received his bachelors in music education. Rob is currently
finishing his masters at St. Rose in Jazz Studies and teaching band in
the Albany School District.
Performance Experiences: Melting Picassos, Cleen st. R@B band, Brian
Pateneude, Soul System, Jazz Ensembles: S.C.C.C. and Potsdam (placing in
a national collegiate Jazz Competition at Notre Dame, under the
direction of Brett Zvacek). Rob has been part of various arrangements of
Jazz combos, ranging from duo to sextet with established jazz players
locally, and from NYC. Rob is a composer, and leads his own groups as
well, performing throughout the capital district.
2003 release - Original Jazz CD: Robert Lindquist, "2 Days and A Night"
Rob began playing trumpet at 8, switching to guitar at 13 and studying
with Mike Dorio and Ron DeJesus. He received the Louie Armstrong
Jazz Award upon graduation from high school, and then went on to UMass
Amherst, studying with guitarist Joe Belmont and world-famous avante
garde musician Archie Shepp. Rob then attended Berklee College of Music,
where he studied privately with guitarist Jim Kelly.
Performance History: Rob first began performing professionally at
age 18 with the reggae band the Tribulations. Moving to the
Capitol Region in the early 90's Rob lead several jazz, funk and blues
projects including Soul ConFusion with vocalist Alaine Jones. As a
side man, Rob has performed with many local artists including The Joey
Thomas Big Band, Jay and the Americans, Take Five, The John Blood Band,
The Brian Kaplan Band, Ernie Williams and the Wildcats, The Bob Bates
Band, Funk Squad and Soul Session. Additionally, Rob has recorded
with many local and regional artists and on the 1997 Miramax soundtrack
for the film The Castle.
Currently, Rob plays guitar in the Karen Lawrence Band and teaches
guitar and bass at Blue Sky Studio in Delmar, N.Y.
Steve Lambert

Steve Lambert, born and raised in Schenectady NY, has been playing
trumpet professionally in the capital region for over 10 years.
Early in his career he performed with and learned from some of the best
musicians in the area including Nick Brignola, Mike Canonico, Rennie
Craine, Mike Wicks, George Muscatello, and Brian Patneaude.
Steve moved to New York in 1999 to pursue a Bachelors Degree in
Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, after which he worked
in the office of Second Floor Music for two years as assistant to
world-renowned jazz trumpet player/arranger/producer Don Sickler.
While on staff at Second Floor, he interacted with such legends as Jim
Hall, Renee Rosnes, Charli Persip, Ray Bryant, and Rudy Van Gelder, and
worked on many SFM publications including "The Thelonious Monk Fake
Book", "Sing Jazz!", and Charli Persipi's "How Not To Play Drums."
Steve also freelanced around Manhattan, working at such jazz clubs as
Kavehaz, Louis, and The Garage, and honed his chops while frequenting
many jazz jams around the city including those at Smoke, The Lenox
Lounge, Smalls, and Cleopatra's Needle. He returned to the Capital
Region in 2003 where he enjoys playing with many of his old jazz
friends, as well as freelancing in the show, commercial, and classical
circuits.

Rick Albanese

percussion, vocals
A fourteen year member of
The Karen Lawrence Band, Rick was hired by Karen when he was just 21.
"He was like finding gold... incredibly talented and versatile. Rick is
our engine."
Rick started playing the drums at the age of 10. He was a percussionist
for his high school years with the wind ensemble at Schenendahowa High
School. At the age of 15, he began his professional career playing in
area dance and rock bands.
Rick was the drummer for Hot Pursuit for five years before joining The
Karen Lawrence Band. He has vast experience in all styles of music and
is a highly respected studio drummer with many CD credits.
Kevin Barcomb
· saxophones,
flute, clarinet, congas, back up vocals
Kevin Barcomb has been
playing saxophone since the fourth grade. His first professional
experience came while attending the Berklee School of Music in 1990. He
has also studied under the guidance of Jim Corigliano, Paul Evoskivich,
George Garzone, and Jerry Bergonzi. Upon returning to Albany in 1993
Kevin experienced performing with many local musicians.
Performance
Experience: George Russell's Big Band, Diane Marlow's Big Band, The Joey
Thomas Big Band, Alex Torres and The Latin Kings Orchestra, Tim Church's
Original Rock Band, Mike Wicks Jazz Quartet, Terry Gordon's Jazz
Quintet, Tom Healy Blues Band, and a host of other local performers.
Recording Experience: Rob Lindquist Jazz Project, Empire Jazz Orchestra,
Brasso Mania, Alex Torres and the Latin Kings, and Karen Lawrence.
Education: Bachelors Degree of Arts in Music
N. Y. S. provisional certification in Music The College of Saint Rose
Along playing with the Karen Lawrence Band he teaches at South Colonie
Schools as a sixth grade Band Director and he also maintains a private
saxophone studio in Guilderland, NY. He is currently working on the
completion of his graduate degree in Jazz Studies. He performs
professionally with the Empire Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Dr.
Bill Meckley in the Capital Region.
